Finding God’s Purpose in the Midst of Uncertainty

There was a season in my life when I felt completely lost. I wasn’t facing any huge tragedy or crisis, but there was a deep emptiness I couldn’t ignore. My days felt monotonous, my work felt unfulfilling, and though I had friends and family who cared for me, I felt distant even from them. Most of all, I felt distant from God.

One rainy afternoon, as I sat stuck in traffic, it all came crashing down. I realized I had been so focused on achieving goals that I never stopped to ask if those goals were God’s plans for my life. The truth hit me hard: I was living for myself, not for Him. And that realization left me feeling exposed, but also strangely hopeful. Maybe there was more for me if I was willing to surrender.

That evening, I opened my Bible for the first time in weeks. I came across Proverbs 3:5-6:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”

I knew I hadn’t been trusting God or seeking His will for my life. Instead, I had been leaning on my own plans and understanding. That moment of conviction turned into a prayer of surrender. I told God I was tired of chasing after my own ambitions and asked Him to lead me.

Over the next few months, I spent intentional time in prayer and studying God’s Word. I also began journaling, not just my thoughts but what I believed God was saying to me. I started to notice a recurring theme: God was calling me to love and serve others. It wasn’t a grand, dramatic revelation. It was simple but clear. My purpose was to glorify God by serving those around me—through my time, my work, and even small, everyday actions.

With this clarity, I began making changes. I joined a local ministry that served underprivileged families, started using my skills to help at my church, and shifted my focus at work to better align with what I believed God was calling me to do. Every step felt like confirmation that I was walking in His will. Life didn’t suddenly become easier, but it became richer. I felt a peace I hadn’t experienced in years, knowing I was living for something eternal rather than temporary.

Looking back, I’m amazed at how God used that season of uncertainty to draw me closer to Him. If you’re feeling lost, I want to encourage you with this: God has a purpose for your life, and it’s so much greater than anything you could plan for yourself. It starts with surrender—acknowledging that you can’t do it alone and inviting Him to lead.

Trust Him. Seek Him. And remember, as Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

God’s purpose for your life isn’t something you have to figure out on your own. He’s already written it. All you have to do is trust Him enough to take the next step.

“Encouragement for New Believers: What I Wish I Knew”

When I first became a believer, I was filled with joy, hope, and a hunger to learn more about God. Yet, I often found myself feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to navigate my new faith. Looking back, there are a few lessons I wish I had known that could have helped me grow stronger in Christ.

When I first became a believer, I was filled with joy, hope, and a hunger to learn more about God. Yet, I often found myself feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to navigate my new faith. Looking back, there are a few lessons I wish I had known that could have helped me grow stronger in Christ.

1. God’s Love Is Unchanging
One of the first truths I wish I had embraced fully is that God's love for us is constant and unwavering. Early on, I struggled with feelings of unworthiness, fearing that my mistakes would push God away. But Romans 8:38-39 reassures us, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This verse taught me that God's love is not dependent on my performance. It's a profound truth that brings peace and confidence to every believer.

2. The Journey Is a Process
As a new believer, I often felt pressure to "have it all together" immediately. I now realize that spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. Philippians 1:6 gave me great comfort: "Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

God is patient with us, and we are called to trust Him as He molds us into His image day by day.

3. The Word of God Is Your Foundation
In the beginning, I didn’t fully grasp the importance of immersing myself in the Word. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." The Bible is our guide, helping us navigate life's challenges with wisdom and grace. Developing a habit of reading and meditating on Scripture has been transformative in my walk with Christ.

4. Community Matters
For a long time, I tried to go it alone in my faith. But Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us, "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

Being part of a church family or a small group is essential for encouragement, accountability, and growth. We are stronger when we walk together.

5. Prayer Is a Lifeline
Prayer seemed daunting to me at first, but I’ve learned that it’s simply a conversation with God. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Through prayer, we draw closer to God and experience His peace, even in the midst of trials.

A Word of Encouragement
If you’re a new believer, know that you are not alone. God is with you every step of the way, and He has placed others in your life to support and encourage you. Keep seeking Him, trusting His promises, and leaning on His Word.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)

Hold on to this truth: God has a plan for your life, and He is faithful to complete it.
